drivarar was established in 2018 by a small group of automotive enthusiasts in Kuala Lumpur who felt that renting a car in Malaysia could be a far more pleasant experience than it typically was. Too often, renters encountered vehicles that hadn't been properly serviced, confusing pricing structures, and sluggish customer support when something went wrong on the road.
Starting with a modest fleet of eight vehicles, we focused on doing the basics well: keeping every car in solid mechanical condition, cleaning each one thoroughly between bookings, and being honest about costs from the start. That approach brought us repeat customers, and word of mouth did the rest.
Today, our fleet covers everything from fuel-sipping city hatchbacks to comfortable highway sedans and SUVs. We serve visitors flying into KLIA, business travellers on tight schedules, and local families heading out for weekend trips along the coast. Our office sits on Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin in central KL, within easy reach of the city's main transport hubs.
What hasn't changed is the attention we pay to each vehicle and each booking. Our mechanics inspect and service the fleet on a fixed schedule. Our customer service team stays reachable every day of the week. And we still believe that the best way to grow a rental company is to make every driver's experience a positive one.

Started drivarar after a decade in the automotive industry. Oversees fleet management and business operations from the KL office.

Coordinates bookings, manages airport handovers, and ensures every renter gets a smooth experience from start to finish.
Kumar Muthu
Fleet Maintenance Lead
Leads a team of four technicians who keep every vehicle in the fleet road-ready. Previously worked at a Honda service centre in Petaling Jaya.

Regular Servicing Schedule
Each vehicle follows a fixed maintenance timetable. Oil changes, brake inspections, tyre rotations, and fluid top-ups happen on schedule, not just when something goes wrong.
Interior Sanitisation
Between every booking, vehicles are cleaned inside and out. High-touch surfaces — steering wheel, gear lever, door handles — receive particular attention.
Insurance Compliance
All vehicles carry up-to-date comprehensive insurance and road tax. Documentation is verified and renewed well before expiry dates.
Driver Verification
We confirm every renter's licence and identification before handover, keeping the process quick while maintaining proper records.
Data Privacy
Personal information collected during the booking process is stored securely and handled in accordance with Malaysian data protection standards.
Industry Registration
drivarar operates as a registered car rental business under Malaysian commercial transport regulations and holds all required operating permits.
Our Approach to Vehicle Rental
Running a car rental operation in Malaysia means understanding the varied needs of people who travel here. A tourist arriving at KLIA with two suitcases needs something different from a sales representative driving between Kuala Lumpur and Penang three times a month. A family heading to Cameron Highlands for the weekend is looking for a different kind of vehicle than someone commuting through Bangsar and Petaling Jaya daily.
We build our fleet around these real needs. Compact cars with low fuel consumption for city work. Mid-size sedans and SUVs with comfortable suspension for expressway journeys. MPVs with luggage space for families and groups. Each vehicle type serves a purpose, and our booking team can help match the right car to the trip.
Pricing is structured so that you know what you're paying for before you commit. The daily or weekly rate includes insurance and a mileage allowance. Extras like toll transponders or child seats are listed separately with their costs stated upfront. We've found that being straightforward about costs builds more trust than burying fees in small print — and it brings people back.
Our support doesn't stop at the handover. If a tyre goes flat on the North-South Expressway or you lock your keys in the boot at a rest stop, our assistance line is staffed around the clock. That kind of backup matters when you're driving in unfamiliar territory, and it's included in every booking.
